Market research information - new trials

We have trials running to two new databases of market research information.

The first is to Passport, from Euromonitor International. This is is a global market information database and analysis tool containing comprehensive data and reports across all industries, countries and consumers. It includes:
  • Industry and company analysis
  • Export and market entry strategies
  • Trend monitoring
  • Country profiling
  • General business references
The trial runs until 28 April 2013. Follow the Connect to Passport link from our Passport page. You will need to register to use the database for the first time.

The second trial is to Keynote. This provides commercially relevant market insight and analysis to the business and the academic world. There are over 2,500 full reports online, plus full access to Company Information; a database of over 7 million UK companies. The trial will be available until 31 May 2013.

Trial to Official Publications Online

The Library has a new trial to Offical Publications Online.
This database from The Stationery Office includes access to:
  • UK Legislation: including Scottish, Northern Ireland and Welsh Legislation
  • Command and House Papers: Green Papers
  • White Papers, Annual Report and Accounts, Departmental Reports and Treaty Series
  • Parliamentary Publications: Hansard, Bills and Amends and Select Committee Reports
Publications are available online, as soon as they are published and there is early morning delivery of key parliamentary titles.  The trial will be made available until 31st December 2012 . Please tell us what you think of it by using our feedback form.

Keynote reports trial

We have a trial to Keynote market research reports. There are thousands of reports covering every major industry, with a specific range of reports focusing on European markets.

The trial is running until 30 April 2011 and is open to all registered staff and students of the University.  Please note that because we have access as part of a trial, the information on this site should be used as reference only. As they monitor usage, Keynote have indicated that users are allowed to download a maximum of 10% of any report.

Documents on British Policy Overseas

The University Library has arranged a trial to the Documents on British Policy Overseas database.  This historical collection gathers together tens of thousands of UK Government documents relating to Britain’s international relations, including foreign policy instructions, letters and memos, business reports and more.

The database is produced in collaboration between ProQuest and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. They say "Documents on British Policy Overseas offers researchers the opportunity to see beneath the surface of the major events of the twentieth century. Users can access contemporary accounts and follow the detailed exchanges that shaped British foreign policy from the origins of the First World War and beyond".

The trial  is available to all registered staff and students at the University until 31 July 2010.  Please let us have your feedback.

Springer eBooks Trial

We currently have a trial running on the Springer eBook platform. Springer eBooks are grouped into 12 fully indexed and searchable subject collections and also include the Springer eReference collection. These include:

  • Behavioral Science;

  • Biomedical and Life Sciences;

  • Business and Economics;

  • Chemistry and Materials Science;

  • Computer Science (including the highly regarded Lecture Notes in Computer Science);

  • Earth and Environmental Science;

  • Engineering;

  • Humanities, Social Sciences and Law;

  • Mathematics and Statistics;

  • Medicine;

  • Physics and Astronomy;

  • Professional Computing and Web Design.


Access to the Springer eBook collection (MUSE log-in required) is available via Springerlink and only includes Springer ebooks with copyright years 2005-2010. It is available to registered staff and students of the University of Sheffield until 10 May 2010. Chinese magazines

We have a new trial running.  This one is  to the Bookan Chinese e-magazine database, which gives access to more than 2500 Chinese best-selling magazines.

The Bookan trial is available to registered staff and students of the University of Sheffield until 28 February 2010. Please take a look and let us have your feedback.

Hart law ejournals

The Library is often able to arrange trials of electronic resources  so that you get a chance to try them out  and see how useful they are to you.  Feedback from you helps us to decide which  resources are most worth subscribing to.  We've currently got a trial running to Hart law ejournals.

Hart Publishing produce over 500 titles in print, including journals, textbooks, scholarly monographs and works for practitioners. This trial provides access to its journals collection of 13 titles, including current and back issues to 2007. This includes titles covering European Law, Corporate Law and Media Law.

The Hart law ejournals trial is available to registered staff and students of the University of Sheffield until December 31 2009.  Check it out and let us have your comments.
